Day Two of blog yet sadly day three of flu! - saw this image online and it totally epitomizes how I feel... I've decided the main irritation of being ill, bar the illness itself is that you're at home and get all these wonderfully jolly ideas about sorting your wardrobe or calendaring friends birthdays in a super-efficient way however are unable to do ANYTHING! Even basic stuff... maybe its just me and an inability to just stop that makes me a crap 'ill' person but seriously its so boring!
Anyhow, keeping with my blog-mantra of everyday counting I am trying to remain positive. I have noticed already the (very small) interest that looking out the window at a time of day when Im usually unable to is in fact quite interesting. Instead of the usual commuters I see pregnant women, dustbin men, shop sellers, birds on barbed wire catching up... I start day dreaming about where everyone started their day, where they're headed, how they feel? have they had flu?... My main issue with stopping is not doing anything worthwhile or time efficient., whatever I seem to think that is?! I don't know if this stems from busy parents or my own pride at being self dependent. As I've grown up I've realised that rushing achieves nothing. When I travel I see how whole days can pass in the third world when tasks are taken on in such a considered manner, there is no time, deadline, outer deadline...it is just assumed that in order for something to be done well, it shall be done as and when and respect is given to that, like a mutual trust of knowing someone cares about what they're doing. Here if you rush or do something super quick you're a star - if you take time you are struggling/time wasting... Im not going to stop however I do think slowing down has its advantages...
I have two exciting invitations to two musical events this weekend (subject to snotty nose!) - the first being Ooh lalalaunch@club512 dalston, a dj set that promises love to my main man Marvin as well as Aretha and Jocelyn Brown...could you ask for groovier beats!? The second musical delight is THTC Lauch party featuring ASM - a friends brothers group who's funky roots reggae tunes are already creating huge stirs in Europe and are now ready to share their hiphop loveliness here! ... Time for Lemsip - rock-and-roll baby!
